Two Weeks

      Lockdown!
      Essential activities only
      Two weeks
      At home
      Alone
      Two whole weeks!
      How will I manage?

      Terrified behind my mask
I indulge in solitary walks and a couple medical appointments
      Otherwise I stay home
      But many can’t—or won’t
Surge upon surge, lockdown upon lockdown
      Hair keeps growing
      Social skills atrophy
While half a million Americans die

March 17, 2021
      Vaccine!
      My second shot
      I ice my arm
      Eat chicken soup
      Develop immunity
      Start counting the days:
Safe human contact in two weeks
      Just two weeks!
      Will I be ready?
